Students from grades 4 to 10 are invited and encouraged to research and construct a historical project of choice, and present it in a public forum. Power Pioneers sponsor and attend the B.C. Regional Heritage Fairs and the B.C. Provincial Heritage Fair.

We offer an award at the regional level for the project that best represents some aspect of the history of BC Hydro or its predecessor companies. If there is no project meeting the criteria, the award may be presented to a project showcasing a B.C. pioneer. The award consists of a BC Hydro Power Pioneers history book and certificate.

Our members attend Regional Fairs held throughout the province each spring to assist with interviewing the students, judging the entries and presenting the Power Pioneers award.
