BC Hydro Safety Rodeos

Since 2006 the Power Pioneers have supported BC Hydro’s Safety Rodeos in Surrey and at various regional locations in B.C.

Thousands of volunteer hours have been donated to help plan and support the many jobs and activities it takes to put on this event for the Hydro employees and their families. Opportunities to volunteer are in Surrey and other locations depending on the year.

The 2020 Safety Rodeo in Surrey will be held Saturday, June 6 – cancelled

The Safety Rodeo helps reinforce Safety as a value and priority of BC Hydro and is an opportunity to celebrate our safety success while learning more about the essential work that employees perform every day. Attractions included demonstrations, competitions, bucket truck rides, games, prizes, information booths and a free BBQ lunch.

Volunteers may be needed for tasks such as registration, hosting of guests, children’s games, “Ask Me” site guides, assisting with food services, photography, staffing of booths, assisting with trades competitions, set-up and take down on the day before or after the event. There may be other tasks identified as the Rodeo gets closer. It is intended that each volunteer will put in a three hour shift. If possible, accommodation will be made for those who wish to work a longer or shorter time.

Why volunteer for the Safety Rodeos?

These safety rodeos would not be possible without volunteers from across BC Hydro and the Power Pioneers. It is a great opportunity to work with and learn from BC Hydro employees and other Power Pioneers.

An important part of our volunteering is that BC Hydro recognizes the contribution of the Power Pioneer volunteers by making donation towards our Miracle Millions campaign in support of BC Children’s Hospital. We hope you will join us!
