BC Hydro Power Pioneers Beginning a Lifetime of Community Service Youth Award

All award recipients will be selected by the end of June 2009 and will be notified by phone or email.

The award is offered to BC residents attending school full time who are maintaining a passing grade and are 18 years of age or under as of March 31, 2009. There are 18 awards of $500 each available in 15 regions of BC.

Candidates must have made outstanding contributions in their community for a considerable amount of time; or a one time project that the individual initiated, organized and contributed to significantly.  No personal remuneration may be received by the volunteer for services provided.

The following information must be included to be considered for this award:

(1) completed application form,
(2) one page essay of voluntary contributions you have made to your community,
(3) reference letter(s) from the community organization(s) you have worked with,
(4) reference letter from a teacher, counselor or principal at your school,
(5) confirmation of a passing grade (a photocopy of your transcript is acceptable),
(6) proof of age (a photocopy of birth certificate or passport is acceptable).

Your package must be received by March 31, 2009 complete with all attachments listed above to qualify. The postmark must be no later than 31 March 2009 (you need to ask the post office to stamp the date if you deliver it on the 31st). Email or fax applications will not be accepted.
