Science Fair Awards
BC Hydro has participated in the province’s regional Science Fairs since the 1950s and the Power Pioneers have carried on the tradition as ambassadors for Hydro since 1999.
Today the Power Pioneers Award goes to a student from grades 4-12 who presents a project that creatively demonstrates electrical conservation and its environmental, social or economic impacts.
The winning student receives a BC Hydro Power Pioneers history book, certificate and $100. The Power Pioneers are on hand at the events to recognize the student projects, judge and present the awards. The enthusiasm and excitement generated by the students, not to mention their innovation and creativity, make this a favourite annual event for the Power Pioneers.
