Northern – April 2026 – Meeting Minutes

BC Hydro Power Pioneers Northern Branch Meeting Minutes for Tuesday, April 14, 2026.
Prepared by Pat Dool, Secretary.

Past President Al Beeson welcomed 26 members, including one new member, Mark Prestwich.
Al also announced the birthdays and anniversaries for the month of April.

Al called the meeting to order at 12:30 and asked for a motion to accept the minutes of our
previous meeting. Rudy Zellman moved the minutes be accepted and Tim Thompson 2nd, AIF/C.

Terry Receveur, Treasurer, presented his financial report – General Acct $1631.14
Entertainment Acct $1022.90 for a total of $2654.04 and made a motion to accept, Donna
Zellman 2nd, AIF/C.

Committee Reports:
Care – Maggie Stoner reports she sent a note to Ed Elliott who recently had a knee replacement
and a card to Gord Dickson who recently lost his wife, Joyce.
Volunteer HoursDonna Zellman – nothing to report
Publicity – Rudy Zellman – nothing to report. Rudy has offered assistance to anyone
who wishes to bring a device to the next meeting, to sign into and navigate the Power Pioneer
web-site.
MembershipNancy Thurier absent but Maggie reports two renewals and a new member, as
above.
Community Service Award – Bryan Tuson absent but Tim Thompson reports that here were no
applications submitted in the PG area this year. 0 in 100 Mile House and Quesnel and 4 in Williams
Lake.
Science FairTim Thompson reports this was held last weekend and an award was presented
to Leo Nesbitt on his electromagnetic field exhibit.
Heritage FairTim Thompson, Al Beeson and Rudy Zellman will attend this year’s event at
Exploration Place on May 7th at 8:30 am and they are looking for volunteers to judge.
Caring Crafts and LiteracyGail Thompson – nothing to report.
Small is MightyPat reports our annual BC Children’s Hospital donation campaign runs May 5th
-31st. Donations will be made through one account for BC Hydro this year and Pat will send a link
to Rudy for the May newsletter. Let’s make a difference!

Old Business: None

New Business: Rudy made a motion to reward members who bring a new member into the
branch, with a free lunch, Terry Receveur 2nd, AIF/C.

Leisure Activities: Lunch won by Karen Beeson and the 50/50 draw of $35 went to Peter
Stoner. We also drew for a PP Water Bottle won by Rick Shymanski and a Gaslight to Gigawatt
Book won by Keith Monroe.

Meeting adjourned at 12:40

Next meeting will be held on Tuesday, May 12th at 11:30 am at Nelly’s Pub.
