Vancouver – May 2024 meeting notes with Enjoy the Journey

Branch News |

Vancouver Branch meeting notes for May 14, 2024

Following Skytrain evacuation instructions by branch president John Davies, the speaker for the afternoon was introduced – Troy Opper, owner of Enjoy the Journey.

Lighting upgrades at the BC Hydro Edmonds building left us meeting in the dark, but it didn’t darken our spirits. Troy was presented with a Power Pioneer toiletry case, from John Davies.

Troy provided an overview of his company, and introduced day tours and charters we might be interested in … definitely another winery tour like the one we all enjoyed in October.

He presented the daily itinerary for the nine-day Haida Gwaii & Northwest BC tour – travel by air, rail and tour bus. The “The Treasures of Thailand” tour was also presented – January 6-22, 2025 (17 days).  Cities include Bangkok, Chiang Mai, and Phuket.  Book before May 30, 2024 and save $100 per person.

To see “small groups BIG adventures” “On Tour” features, visit enjoythejourney.ca to see a vast array of original tour images.  The Treasures of Thailand and Columbia Paddlewheeler Adventure pamphlets included below. Troy mentioned that a $500 discount would be applied for a group of 24 (max) if we get a tour organized.

The presentation was very interesting and enlightening.

The business part of the meeting then commenced.

Phil Horton mentioned the BC Children’s Hospital campaign “Small is Mighty” is underway and continues to the end of May 2024. Note that donation links will be available to the end of June. Tables were set up at the BC Hydro Dunsmuir and Edmonds lobbies to collect donations and sell “Small is Mighty” items from our Power Pioneers Gear Store, with proceeds going to BCCH.

The June 11 Vancouver Branch meeting in the Edmonds auditorium will see the presentation of Community Services Awards to our successful applicants.

Door prize draws ended the meeting, with congrats to cash prize draw winners.
