Okanagan – April 2026 Community Service Awards

Branch News |

Shirley Gratton is leading the committee to review the Community Service Award applications for the Okanagan area and has shared the following comments.

We have three wonderful candidates for the Okanagan; they are all winners!

I have jotted down a small sample of the girls volunteering activities.

These young ladies from Penticton, Keremeos and Osoyoos are a good example of youth volunteering within our communities.

Penticton, Chanelle Steyn who is the reigning Miss Penticton 2025-2026, working with seniors recording their memories in the past. Dragonfly Pond Fashion Show, a celebration for children with disabilities.

Keremeos, Lola Hibbs who volunteers with the LSCSS senior day care program, volunteer car doctor, school sports refereeing, planting flower beds at Keremeos Recreation Complex and holds a job on weekends.

Osoyoos, Becca Knight volunteers with the Legion’s Foods Mesh program who service the long -term care center in developing practical and interpersonal skills. Sunnybank resident’s activities of arts, crafts and entertainment.

Thank you Shirley and your committee for reviewing the applicants and providing examples of the wonderful volunteer work done by the youth in our communities.
