Prince George Regional Heritage Fair 2026

The 2026 Prince George Regional Heritage Fair was be held on Thursday, May 7th at The Exploration Place. The Heritage Fair allows students from grades four to ten to develop and research projects on topics related to Canadian heritage. These projects are evaluated by volunteer judges who also recommend students who display excellent work, thorough research, and enthusiasm for various awards.

This year’s Fair was a full-day event, starting with judges’ training at 8:30 a.m. Students rotated between project judging and cultural activities in the morning, before participating in programming in The Exploration Place galleries in the afternoon. They returned in the evening for the Community Showcase where the public could attend the awards ceremony and view the projects.

The role of the judges is to support and encourage students’ enthusiasm for history through morning judging sessions. A review of the evaluation process began at 8:30, with the judging portion of the day ending around 11:30. Judges were invited to return for the Community Showcase at 5:30. Al Beeson, Tim Thompson and Rudy Zellman, of the Northern Branch Power Pioneers, volunteered their time as judges.

Krystal Leason, Executive Director, stated: ”Thanks again for your help and support of the Prince George Regional Heritage Fair! Last Thursday’s event was a lot of fun and the Fair committee was pleased to present awards to 19 deserving students in recognition of their hard work and enthusiasm.”
