Northern – August 2026 President's Message

Branch News |
Well summer has finally arrived and with it warmer and occasionally hotter temperatures although it seems that the hot temperatures don’t last for more than a few days at a time. I hope that you have been getting out and enjoying the outdoors doing the activities that you love; whether it’s something like traveling, camping, fishing, hiking, gardening or just sitting in a chair in the shade reading a book or having a nap.
It seems that we are now well into the summer thunderstorm pattern and of course the inevitable wildfires. We’ve been lucky in the Central Interior, Peace River region and the Northwest that we had a good snow pack last winter and moderate rain this spring/early summer to help abate the risk of wildfires for us. Unfortunately that’s not been the case for our family, friends and colleagues in the South Cariboo and Southern Interior. We can only hope that they get some significant rain soon to help fire crews to get the wildfires under control.
Of course with summer comes our annual summer BBQ on Thursday, August 20th being hosted by Tim and Gail Thompson at their home. Please see the story included in this newsletter for more details.
I hope that you’re able to attend the BBQ and I look forward to seeing you there.
