Our Upper Island hopes all our members are having a wonderful summer and keeping busy. I know that I am busy trying to keep ahead of the weeds in my yard, but they just keep laughing at me.
|
We have updates for our members as follows:
|
|
1) PLEASE NOTE: Our picnic is fast approaching ---the date to mark on your calendar is July 14, 2026. Don't forget to bring a lawn chair, a hat, sunscreen and umbrella. You can read the details listed below. If it decides it wants to rain on our picnic, we can use the hall.
|
Please bring your sock donation also(explained below in number 2) item). .
|
2) Our Upper Island (Janet Harms is contact person-her e-mail is heyjharms@gmail.com or her telephone is 250-245-3781) is collecting socks for the children at the Errington School. We would like to deliver them for the start of the school year. While Janet was donating the cheque for our book donation to that school, she found that some of the families are living out of their vehicles. Everyone needs socks so please donate to a worthy cause. (you may make a cash donation if you prefer)

3) Please note that our Upper Island AGM (Annual General Meeting) date has been changed to 15 September, 2026 from November 17, 2026..
|
4) Our Oktoberfest is tentatively scheduled at the Piper's Pub on October 13, 2026. More details to follow on a later newsletter.
|
5) Upper Island has received country grocer receipts and Ted and Janet have spent hours totalling them. The Grand Amount that Janet has in a gift card to give the Loaves and Fishes is abt $370.00. Janet requests that to make her job less time consuming to tally up the receipt totals, could we please not fold the invoices. Thanks for you assistance and please keep giving your receipts to Janet. The Loaves and Fishes need all the donations they can get.

6) Our Christmas lunch will be on December 1, 2026 at the Tigh-na-Mara Resort. More details will follow in a later newsletter.

7) I would like to make a request to any of our members who take pictures at any of our events, could you please e-mail me a copy. I can use them for our newsletters on our Power Pioneer website. Thanks from Dianne Michaely --my e-mail is dmmichaely@gmail.com

8) Jim Gahr and Lois Earle would like to thank all our members for sharing their volunteer hours with us. For each person sharing their volunteer hours, we receive $20.00. This year we have $2020.00 received for our volunteer hours and this money is shared with many charities. If any of our members would like to let us know of a charity they would like to receive some of this money, please let us know before our AGM in September.
