Fraser Valley Power Pioneers Food Bank Donations 2020

Branch News |
Last month Fraser Valley Power Pioneers raised a record $935 for our annual Food Bank donations.  Each year this much appreciated donation is donated, on rotation, to Mission, Abbotsford, Chilliwack or Hope.

The fund raising is organized by Diane Watts and once again thanks to Diane for her tireless efforts for this campaign.  Usually the bulk of our donations are collected at our annual Christmas Banquet along with non-perishable food items.  Donations are also raised here for the Literacy fund.  However, with no banquet due to the COVID-19 pandemic, all donations were monetary and directed to the Food Bank, hence a much larger amount which was well received thanks also to the efforts of our Phone Committee.  Our treasurer, Bernie Smith-Gander, also donated $200 from our Branch.

This year’s Food Bank donations went to Hope Community Services.

Pictured below are (l to r) Ray Daws (FVPP), Diane MacDonnell (Hope Community Services), Denise DeSorcy (President, Hope Community Services), and presenting the cheque Peter Quanstrom (FVPP) .  Peter is a retired lineman who has worked in Hope since 1980.

A big THANK YOU to all our members who donated funds.

And all our best wishes for 2021 to everyone from the Fraser Valley Power Pioneers Executive!
