Branch News |

On May 19th Steve Borradaile presented the 2025 Community Service Award to (Nifemi) Oluwanifemi Oladipo at Mount Douglas Secondary school. He and his folks immigrated from the USA about thirteen years ago in order for him to get the education he desired.

Volunteering has played a significant role in Nifemi Oladipo’s life since early adolescence.  In grade 10 Nifemi joined his school leadership program accumulating over 100 volunteer hours by organizing social events, assisting at sports events, and managing school PR and advertising.

In 2024 he participated in the City of Victoria Youth Leadership in-Training program. He worked at the summer camps for five weeks, leading over 60 campers and assisting camp leaders in organizing camp activities.

Nifemi also volunteered at the University of Victoria’s Science Venture, supporting camp instructors in conducting engaging scientific experiments and activities for campers.

Nifemi has also been actively involved in mentoring younger students at his karate club and making positive contributions to his church community helping organize social events and assist in Sunday school activities.

Nifemi plans to attend UVIC this fall to get a degree in engineering.
