This is what the Power Pioneers are all about. What an amazing bunch of Upper Island members have donated. This is Janet Harm’s story about her school visit.
”We visited the Errington Elementary School yesterday to drop off the socks as well as some mittens, touques and a blanket that will be used at the school for quiet time for when some students need some comfort. We felt so good delivering these items and the child support person Michele was so excited to be able to buy some shoes and clothes for certain children in need. It made me feel so warm inside.
There were 175 pairs socks, three touques, three pairs mittens, one blanket, and $190.00 in cash.
The message received back from Janet M. Richards, teacher librarian at Errington Elementary School was:
”Three members of the BC Hydro Power Pioneers visited Errington School today. These retirees do many good works in our community throughout the year. Today they donated 175 pairs of socks and $190.00 cash which will go towards clothing and shoes! Our CYCW Michele and Librarian Ms. Richards welcomed Pioneers Janet, Lynn and Ted who also brought apples for our lunch program! Last year, the Power Pioneers donated $400.00 to our library which bought some great new science fiction for our school. Thank you so much for your donations!”
