Upper Island donation to the Loaves and Fishes on 29 March, 2023

It is one of our favourite charities and thanks to our members, we donated a cheque in the amount of $1,311.99.

Working with our local Island grocery store, Country Grocer, our members turn in their grocery receipts to Janet Harms and she takes them back to Country Grocer. For every $1,000.00 in grocery receipts, Country grocer gives a gift card for $10.00. The $311.99 in the above cheque for $1,311.99 is because of the generosity of Country Grocer.

The 1,000.00 donation is made up of cash collected from our members at our Christmas lunch, and a top up from our branches finances.

At our Christmas lunch, our members also bring in food items. Our members take these to the food banks soon after our Christmas lunch.

“The average of 300,000 pounds of food per month going through Loaves and Fishes
warehouse happens in large part because of our incredible team of over 650 volunteers!”
