Tri-Cities – 2025 Spring Report

Branch News |

The Tri-Cities Power Pioneers have had a very busy Spring roster this year.

In April: we were very pleased to have the lawyer Ish Lila, come to present on Wealth Management and Power of Attorney (POA).

Ish has more than 18 years of experience in corporate law, tax law, as well as estate planning law and brings seasoned legal experience to every project. Ish has a unique background – he is a lawyer and a Chartered Professional Accountant (CPA, CA). He’s a Port Coquitlam lawyer you can count on.  Ish has been named the 2019, 2020, 2021, 2022 and 2024 A-List Winner for favourite lawyer in Port Coquitlam! He has the proven experience to address all of your legal needs.

He spoke about personal wealth management, POA’s, etc. and answered any questions we had.

In May: Les Giles presented information on the June 6th, 2026 Jamboree Cruise to Budapest and back to Germany.

Les also did a fascinating presentation on Zurich.

In June: we had our Annual Potluck Picnic with the Bocci Games.

We had 19 people come to the picnic this year as well as our two winners of the Community Service Awards.

Our first place student, Tiffany (above), brought her mother with her.

Our second place winner, Evan (above), brought a friend, Jay.

Each winner received $1,000 towards their future educational plans.

The winners of our Bocci Tournament were Bev, Donna S., Donna M. and Juliana (below) – a wonderful ladies’ team. They each received a $25 gift certificate to White Spot.

Rambles

In April, we rambled along the dykes in Maple Ridge and enjoyed lunch at the Patch Brewery.

In May, we rambled along the water in Port Moody and had lunch at Brown’s afterwards.

Rambles will resume Tuesday, August 26th at 10:30.

Join us for a 5K Walk along the Coquitlam River.  Meet in parking lot on Shaughnessy St. near Laurier Ave. (gravel parking lot).  Lunch to follow.

In the Fall, we are planning several exciting and informative presentations.

In September we hope to have a speaker from Seniors Helping Seniors on Falls Prevention.  We will also provide a gift card door prize to our Power Pioneer Gear Shop for two lucky people.  And we will plan how to spend our Volunteer Hours money on deserving local Charities.  In October, Les will present an “Octoberfest Travel Log” and in November, we plan to highlight some of the crafts and hobbies that our fellow Power Pioneers enjoy.  Our December Christmas party will once again take place at the PoCo Inn and Suites on Lougheed Hwy.

So plan to keep aside the second Wednesday of every month and to meet at Ricky’s Country Restaurant, 100 Schoolhouse St. Coquitlam at 11:30 am but in December, remember we will meet on the first Wednesday, Dec. 3rd at PoCo Inn and Suites.

Bowling resumes the last Tuesday of September which is September 30th at 10:30 am. Please contact Linda Speerbrecker by Monday night so that she can plan the teams. Bowling takes place at the PoCo Bowling Center.
