April 15 Ramble, Powerex Presentation at Dunsmuir

The Tuesday 15 April multi-branch event was attended by 10 Pacific Branch members and around 40 Vancouver Branch members. The joint presentation by Powerex and POSSE (Planning, Operations and Scheduling Shift Engineer) was presented by Ryan Robertson a Powerex Trader and Kyndra Moeller, an Operations Planning Specialist Engineer respectively. The 90 minute event comprised presentations from Powerex and PSOSE, followed by a “lively” Q&A session.

Both presenters were found to be articulate and interesting in outlining their respective roles, which are closely integrated in providing a successful marketing facility of Hydro generation capacity. This meshing of such real-time, dynamic 24/7 generation load management, continues to serve both the Province and its population very well, a critical component in keeping the lights on, a component that is never given a thought by most of us!

Following the presentation, Lorilee kindly arranged for Power Pioneers to partially fund a luncheon next door at White Spot, that provided the opportunity for our two branches to meet each other over an enjoyable meal.
