2025 Heritage Fairs – Pacific Power Pioneers

Evaluation criteria: Award to be presented to the student who has developed a project with the theme centered on a story involving BC Hydro or its predecessors. Where there is no project meeting the above criteria, the award may be presented to a project on a BC pioneer. The project may be presented in English, French, or an Indigenous language, at any grade level from 4 to 10.

Surrey Heritage Fair Award

Elias Jung receiving the Power Pioneers Heritage Fair award from Ben Dobranowski. He received a certificate and gift card from the Surrey Heritage Fair and a copy of the Power Pioneers Voices from Bridge River. His project was on ‘A Pioneer Portrait’ describing the life of early pioneers.  Elias is a grade 5 student and is home schooled as part of the Home Christan Online School. He was also selected to showcase his project at the National Level. For the national showcase, students are selected at the Regional Heritage Fairs and will be celebrated online and in print by Canada’s History Society.

Delta Heritage Fair Award

Turanya Nalawade receives the Power Pioneers Heritage Fair award from Ben Dobranowski. She received a copy of the Voices from Bridge River and a certificate from the Delta Heritage Fair. Her project was on the The History of BC Ferries. Turanya  is a grade 5 student at McCloskey Elementary school

Richmond Heritage Fair Award

Ella Verdi a grade 4 student at Hamilton Elementary school received the Power Pioneers Heritage Fair award for her project on BC Hydro. As there was no closing awards ceremony, Ben Dobranowski provided the Power Pioneers certificate and a copy Voices from Bridge River to the Heritage Fair representative to award.
