BC Hydro Power Pioneers Northern Branch Meeting Minutes for Tuesday, October 14, 2025

Dave Conway, Vice President welcomed the group of 24 members and read out the birthdays
and anniversaries for this month. He respectfully advised us that Marilyn Podd passed away
August 24 and Annette Hamilton passed away September 6 and thanked those who sent
condolences.
Dave called the business meeting to order at 12:22
Dave called on Treasurer, Terry Receveur to present the Financial Report. Terry reports our
balance of $4523.91 made up of General Acct $3640.01 and Entertainment Account $883.90 –
he moved his report be accepted as presented and Tim Thompson seconded AIF/C.
Minutes of the previous meeting of May 13th were circulated and Wendy Laluk moved the
minutes be adopted as circulated and Bryan Tuson seconded AIF/C.
Dave asked for the Committee Reports:
Care – Elaine Hauck reports she sent a card to Annette’s Family but had no mailing address for
the Podds. She will mail a card to Al Beeson and one to Dan Krys wishing them well, Al is
having his surgery today and Dan has been in hospital for surgery as well (reported by Rudy
Zellman). Wendy Laluk reports seeing Dayle Hopp and she is doing well.
Volunteer Hours – Donna Zellman reports that we should be recording our hours to submit.
Publicity – Rudy Zellman reports no changes.
Membership – Nancy Thurier sent out a new list of members and reminds us payment of dues
can be made on-line.
Youth Awards – Bryan Tuson has nothing new to report.
Science Fair – Tim Thompson has nothing to report.
Heritage Fair – Tim Thompson has nothing to report.
Caring Hands – Gail Thompson has nothing to report
Small is Mighty – Pat Dool reports BCHydro raised over $38,000.00 this year and thanks all
donors.
OLD BUSINESS:
Rudy made a presentation to Tim and Gail Thompson to thank them for hosting the August
BBQ.
Thanks was expressed by the membership to Rudy for setting up the Winery Tour/Tasting
and lunch in June AND to Rudy and Dave for organizing the Site C Tour in June. 21 attended
the Wine Tour and 16 attended the Site C Tour they were enjoyed by all who attended –
especially the wine tasting!
NEW BUSINESS:
Gail Thompson mentioned Shirley Gratton had called her and will be looking for “Tree Fluffers”
for the annual Festival of Trees on November 23rd at CN Centre – more information will be
provided.
Volunteer hours submitted by members bring us $20 per person to be donated to local charities
of our choice. Last year 42 members submitted volunteer hours for a total of $840.00. Tim
Thompson moved a motion to top up the amount we raise this year to $1000.00 to split between
two charities, Donna seconded the motion AIF/C. Some suggestions made were Hospice House,
Hospital Auxiliary, SPCA/Humane Society, St. Vincent de Paul Hot Meals, Salvation Army Food
Bank, Council of Seniors and Grocery Angels. Rudy will put this information in the next

Leisure Activities: Lunch $ won by Dave Conway and 50/50 $45.00 won by Elaine Hauck
