BC Hydro Power Pioneers Northern Branch Meeting Minutes for Tuesday May 13,
2025
Prepared by Karen Beeson for Pat Dool. There were 30 members in attendance.
Al Beeson, President welcomed everyone and read out the May birthdays and
anniversaries and welcomed new member, Charmaine Wiffen to the Power Pioneers.
Al called the business meeting to order at 12:45 pm and asked for a motion to accept
the meeting minutes for April 8, 2025. Tim Thompson moved the minutes be adopted
2nd by Bryan Tuson. AIF/C
Terry Receveur, Treasurer moved his financial report of the General Account $2453.56,
Entertainment Account $718.65 for a total of $3172.21 balance with Beem Credit Union,
be accepted. The report was 2nd by Tim Thompson. AIF/C
Committee Reports:
Care – Elaine Hauck – absent, no repot
Volunteer Hours – Donna Zellman, no change
Publicity – Rudy Zellman, no change
Membership – Nancy Thurier, not in attendance but a new member, Charmain Wiffen
joined today.
Youth Awards – Brian Tuson reported that he had met with Pat Dool and Alan Beeson
and a successful applicant had been selected. Abigal Trick will receive the award as
soon as it arrives from the provincial office. Brian stated that Abigal had an outstanding
resume and application.
Science Fair – Tim Thompson, reports completed for 2025
Heritage Fair – Tim Thompson and Al Beeson participated as judges. The entries were
very limited this year, and no one submitted a hydro/electric project, however two
$50.00 awards were given by the Power Pioneers at the discretion of the organizers.
Alan is following up to determine recipients.
Caring Hands – Gail Thompson, no change
Small is Mighty – Pat Dool, not present but Karen Beeson passed on her message that
the on-line donation page has changed this year and if anyone has any problems
donating, they can contact Pat and she will walk them through the process.
Old Business:
Rudy is still working on the logistics of a tour to Site C damn. 10 or 12 people are still
interested in attending. Rudy will research possible costs, transportation etc. and report
the details in the Newsletter.
New Business:
Rudy asked for a count of those interested in having him arrange the Christmas
Luncheon at the Coast Inn of the North. All were in favor.
Rudy is also arranging for a Tour and a luncheon at the Northern Lights Winery for the
June meeting. 21 attendees indicated that they were interested in attending. Details to
follow.
Draws: Lunch $ 20.00 won by Wendy Smith and the 50/50 $35.00 was won by Donna
Zellman
The meeting was adjourned by 1:15 PM
Next Meeting will be the tour and luncheon at the Northern Lights Winery. Details to be
