BC Hydro Power Pioneers Northern Branch Meeting for Wednesday, February 10, 2026

President Al Beeson welcomed the group of 30 members including 2 new members, Rick
Shymanski and Randy Zemlak.
Al announced the birthdays and anniversaries for February and
circulated the minutes of the November 12, 2025 meeting.
Al called the meeting to order at 12:35 and requested a motion to accept the minutes of the
previous meeting, Maggie Stoner moved the minutes be accepted 2nd by Tim Thompson, AIF/C
Financial Report given by Treasurer Terry Receveur – General Acct $2022.77 plus
Entertainment Acct $950.90 for a Balance of $2973.67 Terry moved his report be accepted as
presented and Karen Porter 2nd, AIF/C
Committee Reports:
Care; Elaine Hauck – nothing to report. Elaine said she will not be doing this for another term.
Volunteer Hours; Donna Zellman – thanked everyone who submitted their hours, a total of 42
members which translates to $840.00 Great job!
Publicity; Rudy Zellman – nothing new to report, keep your eye out for the monthly newsletter.
Membership; Nancy Thurier – absent. Al reported that along with the 2 new members in
attendance today, Bernie Pighin has also joined the branch as a new member.
Community Service Awards; Bryan Tuson – reports he is delivering information/applications to
the schools and doing a little “marketing campaign” as he does his drop-offs!
Heritage Fair; Tim Thompson – will have more information for the March meeting.
Science Fair; Tim Thompson – will be held April 11th at UNBC at 8:30 am and encouraged
anyone who may be interested in judging to speak with him or Al. This is a rewarding
experience.
Caring Hands; Gail Thompson – no report, Gail thanked everyone for their generous donations
at the Christmas Luncheon.
Small Is Mighty; Pat Dool – no report, more info to come at April meeting for May campaign.
Old Business: None
New Business:
- Election of Officers will be held at our next meeting. Al encouraged all
members to think about any position they may be interested in holding. - Al also encouraged members to think about joining him and Tim in the judging process at the Science Fair.
- Bryan Tuson made a request for Extended Health Care and Health Care Spending Account
forms as the on-line process isn’t user friendly, Pat volunteered to provide some forms at the
March meeting. - Note of Interest – Mike and Wendy joined the Williams Lake Power Pioneers at their last
luncheon, where approximately 20 members were present, they conveyed greetings from that
group to ours.
Leisure Activites:
- Lunch won by Mike Smith
- 50/50 Draw $45.00 won by Randy Zemlak
- Valentine’s Day Draw of boxed chocolates won by Rick Shymanski and Shirley Chappell
