Join our Small is Mighty Month of May – help us bring some Pawsitive Energy to the kids

Provincial

Our BC Hydro Power Pioneers BC Childrens Hospital (BCCH) Small is Mighty (SIM) campaign launched this week!

The SIM campaign kicked off Tuesday, April 29 at the Hydro Dunsmuir lobby and Thursday, May 1 at the Hydro Edmonds lobby and runs for the entire month of May around the province. We had some special friends join us this year to highlight our support for the Pet Therapy program at BCCH.

Pet Therapy at BCCH

Since the 1990s, BCCH has partnered with four-legged friends and their volunteer handlers to bring the healing nature of pets to patients in care. Research continues to validate the positive impact that visiting pets have for patients, families, and staff wellness. BCCH currently employs 43 Therapy Dog Teams, including one cat and one bunny. Teams have weekly assignments and visit patients at the bedside, in clinics or at events on the hospital campus. While they reduce stress and boredom, most importantly, the Pet Therapy teams bring joy!

Mighty Month of May

For the month of May, our Power Pioneer and Hydro employee miracle makers will once again be on a mission to transform child health. Why? Because each year, tens of thousands of kids will visit BC Children’s, many of them suffering from devastating diseases and chronic conditions. As the only children’s hospital in the province, they count on BCCH for specialized care they often can’t receive anywhere else. By coming together, we can help conquer these serious and life-long illnesses that affect our province’s kids. Small actions can yield significant results and achieve mighty things.

Our 2024 team of Miracle Makers raised over $55,000! We’re looking forward to another successful campaign with BCCH and Small is Mighty. Here is a list of our Power Pioneers volunteers around the Province who will be contacting their Branch members, businesses and family and friends:
