Fraser Valley Power Pioneers 2025 Community Service Awards – Lachlan Sandford

Another year has passed and once again Fraser Valley Power Pioneers took part in BC Hydro’s annual Community Service Scholarship awards.  This year we were gifted with three scholarships to hand out which led to more interesting and gifted students to interview and an opportunity to meet their proud parents.

First up was a very interesting young man, Lachlan Sandford, that had faced adversity for most of his life with Cerebral Palsy.  Besides being a gifted student with straight-A’s, Lachlan excelled in wheelchair tennis and wheelchair basketball which eventually led to volunteering as a coach for kids with autism, introducing them to various para-sports, such as lacrosse, basketball and racing.  He is part of Mission Senior Secondary’s Leadership program, creating a safe and inclusive environment and contributing to the community at large.

(pictured below is Lachlan receiving our book ”Voices From Bridge River” from Bryan Bodell,  a BC Hydro cheque for $500 from Pat Daws, and a scholarship award certificate from Barb & Mel Peters)
