“Hi All, my name is Anne Marie Smith and I am currently your Power Pioneer President for the Upper Island Branch. My term ends after our General Meeting and we have had no one apply to be our next President.

We have been having a conversation about the lack of new members and have come to the conclusion that something has to change.  We had a meeting today and I laid out a new program called a Leadership Program.  It consists of three Leaders, a Secretary and a Treasurer.  There will be no other executives. They now become committees and can be called on to chair any event/drop-in that we have.  I went over more details at the meeting and I am hoping that you are interested enough to attend the meeting on November 19, 2024. We will have our potluck lunch starting at 11:30 am.  After lunch we will have our meeting regarding the changes we are proposing.

This program hopefully will help us change our ways and reach out to all our members, not just those who live in Nanaimo.   It means only that we will have two or three meetings per year and no one person will be responsible for everything as the President now is.  The Leadership Group will have planning meetings to guide what is happening with the Branch and recommend ways to improve and help bring in new members.

There were yea’s and nay’s at the meeting so we need your feedback to move forward and even volunteer to participate with one of the committees.
