Community Service Award 2020

Branch News |
Presentation of  Community Service Award to Halle Guimond by Mike Bachman, Chairman of Community Service Award Committee and Bob Campbell, President of the 100 Mile Power Pioneers and grandfather of Halle.

The 100 Mile Branch of Power Pioneers is pleased to announce that Halle Guimond is the 100 Mile Branch winner of this year’s BC Hydro Power Pioneers Community Service Award.   This award is given to students who dedicate a significant amount of their time and energy to volunteering in their local communities. Halle definitely meets that criteria.

Halle’s volunteering began in elementary school and has continued through high school.  One of her volunteer experiences in high school has been with the band program where she has set up concerts and mentored at retreats for elementary band students.  As Halle progressed through high school, she became a principal coordinator for her school’s student government, a member of the Mental Health, Substance Abuse and Addictions Committee as well as helping to organize grad fundraiser events.

In Halle’s community she volunteered at the Foothills Farms Equestrian Center, Carefree Manor and with the Minor Hockey Association.  She was also a mentor with Big Brothers Big Sisters.

Halle’s hard work and dedication to her school and her community were recognized at her graduation ceremonies by her being awarded an Honour Roll Medal and an award as Citizen of the Year.  Our congratulations to Halle and our wish to her for every success at Douglas College in Vancouver where she has chosen to study psychiatric nursing.
