1945 - 1962Power to the People: The BC Power Commission
The BC Power Commission line crew in Smithers, 1961. Front row from left: Eric Hensch, John Edvardson, Hans Himmel. Back row from left: Tom Isbister, Bob Caroll, Tom McCaddon, Wally McIntyre, Mike Morris. The town of 100 Mile House suddenly went into complete darkness - momentarily, though. There was a flash of flame well above the surrounding trees. I thought the Mercedes-Benz had taken the Sputnik course back to Germany... I decided I had better get in touch with my boss, who resides in Victoria. After I told him my problem, he said, "What are you using for power now?" I informed him I was using a candle, three-quarter inch in diameter, two inches long. -- E. E. "Bee" Haddon
